TILT Grow is a talent development program under the auspices of Panta Rei Dance Theater, supported by Sparebankstiftelsen DNB and Talent Norge. TILT Grow runs over three years and every year offers 4-10 professional dance artists a mentoring scheme, seminar series and experience in project management to make them more viable in a field that is constantly changing. A new dance performance is also being created for the tour. In 2018, Rebecka Lange and Ingvild Mæhle Skjøtskift were among the artists in the program. Now they are taking the performance “What we do not see” to the Festival in Northern Norway before the tour continues to BAREDANS in Bodø and England in the autumn of 2019.

The first stop is Harstad and the Festival in June, then BAREDANS in Bodø in September. Here they hope for full houses – in the true sense of the word. For this performance comes home to people. Home to the rooms we all live our everyday lives in; living rooms, gardens, cafes and urban spaces. In “What we do not see”, the five female practitioners examine the thoughts, feelings and realizations that come to the surface as we feel at home and find moments of peace.

“Each performance of” What We Do Not See “has been unique and it has given me a lot to meet the audience in a different arena than on a” regular "stage. I have been touched several times by seeing the audience’s reactions – it’s so strong! " says Ingvild.

“What I like about the play is that the performance is affected and changes from place of view to place of view. As a dancer, you are influenced and inspired by the audience, and when the piece is shown in different homes, the performances are always unique. I think this is very exciting and means that the piece is always rewarding for me as a dancer. ", Says Rebecka.

Rebecka further says that the development of “What we do not see” has been an important personal process and has created an understanding of, among other things, the use of choreographic tools. Through her artistic work with choreographer Erik Kaiel, she gained new inspiration and a desire to create her own pieces. Through TILT Grow, she has also learned a lot about herself as a dance artist and how she wants to continue working in the field:

“In general, I feel stronger and better equipped to cope with everyday work and constantly find new solutions to what it means to work as a dancer today. What I liked about TILT Grow was that it was so extensive, and helped me get a larger network for future work. "

Ingvild is happy that “What we do not see” lives its own life outside TILT Grow as well. As she now continues her journey and continues to play the show, she sees even more clearly the value and usefulness of the work that was done last year:

“Even though the project is over for me, there is much more to be gained from the play we prepared in collaboration with Erik. Even I sometimes need to stop and appreciate what I actually can and have learned, instead of always thinking ahead and to the next goal. Now I am left with a great motivation to continue working and try out choreographic ideas. "

Already now “What we do not see” is booked for screenings at home and abroad until 2020. Maybe next time will be at your home?
