The boats are back, and new this year, you can experience the performance on City Bike!

In August, Panta Rei Dance Theatre and Dansens Hus once again have the pleasure of welcoming the audience Oslofjord dances – a journey through Gamle Oslo.

Experience perhaps Oslo’s most colorful district in a new way in this spectacular walking performance. The public is guided through the district both on land and at sea, by bike or boat. Along the way, the stage is set for many beautiful moments of dance art that highlight the district’s different qualities, connections and contrasts.

The journey starts at the Intercultural Museum in Greenland and moves down to Vaterland. Here, the audience divides into two groups, where one descends into rowing boats from Akerselva Wooden Boat Association that will take the audience through the tunnel. The other group of spectators will each be given a City Bike and will be guided over the Akrobaten bridge to Bjørvika.

The journey ends at Sukkerbiten with a view of the fantastic Oslo Fjord.

This is the fourth time the Oslo Fjord dances – a journey through Old Oslo takes place, and we look forward to welcoming former and new audiences to this unique journey through the district.

The performance is part of the initiative Oslofjorden danser – a series of walking performances where dance is at the center. The goal is to stage the Oslo Fjord and at the same time focus on a rich diversity of expressions, urban spaces and nature experiences.

The performances will be performed on 24 and 25 August, at 12, 1430 and 17. Choose whether you want to do the hike by boat or bike, and book your ticket now!

Said about previous performances:

“The artistic elements were not only impressive and strong, but culturally critical. What is art? And for whom? These were very strong artistic expressions. As an audience member, you became awake in a different way than inside a traditional theater hall. With this project, Panta Rei has created art in new ways and with the entire district as a stage.”
– Lars Høgset, audience member and wooden boat enthusiast

“Grønland, Vaterland and Bjørvika need more presence of art in public spaces. The not-so-established art scene with Panta Rei at the forefront adds something new to the cityscape that everyone can take part in.”
– General manager of Akerselva wooden boat association Aslak Juel Kristensen.

“The wholeness of Panta Rei Dance Theatre si walking position Oslofjord dancers made it one of the best performing arts experiences I had this year.”
– Reviewer Berit Einemo Frøysland in the Norwegian Shakespearean Journal chose Oslofjorden danser as Performance of the Year in 2021.

Said of the performance:
“[The walk] may not have changed my life, but it has given me a lot of new things, both a sense of joy, sorrow and anger, but not fear.”
– Audience members living in the district of Gamle Oslo, 2022
