We are TILTing in Molde November 27 & 28

2018 — PROJECTS

When we ask why dance, both students and educators respond "Why not? -and adds that it is FUN, gives joy both to ourselves and others. In addition, it is nice to express the feelings we have when we dance. And the bonus is that it is also good training, and gives you increased body awareness and body control! ”

We are curious about the dance’s status in Molde and ask if the dance is important in the city of roses? It comes as no surprise that it is. Cultural school teacher Mai Cecilie Venaas replies that “I find that dance is important for both children, young people and adults in Molde. The dance company at the cultural school is particularly engaged in the dance, and spends a lot of time on it. They want to further develop in both dance-technique and expression, and have great ambitions. Otherwise, I would also like to highlight an incredibly handsome adult group that takes all the challenges I give them and surprises me every week! Dancing is for people of all ages! "The students join in and say that dance is important to them because “it gives us new experiences and expands our artistic perspective”.

May Cecilie continues to clarify that; “Dance is important to all the students I meet because it gives them joy and a sense of community. They also get the opportunity to express themselves through several different dance genres, and experience both challenges and growth. They must use their own creativity and collaborative skills, which are qualities they will benefit from also outside the dance studio.”

We are curious as to why the cultural school joined in on the TILT project and challenges itself to contribute during the performance with Make Me Dance, which is touring Molde as part of Dansenett Norway: “What I find exciting with this project is that the dancers get to try a different setting than they are used to. This weekend they performed at the school’s student performance with the same choreography they will show as a prologue (as the warm-up band almost-but of course dance) Wednesday, but then in a traditional scene. I look forward to seeing what happens when we take the dance out of its natural setting and make it site-specific. There are no limitations to where to show dance, and the opportunity we have to show dancing anywhere is perhaps something we can get better at using. "The dancers in the company emphasize that for them it is important that the dance company is more emphasized in the Molde community. That we have a lot of cool stuff up our sleeves that we would like to show everyone. TILT gives us this opportunity. "

When we ask the rhetorical question whether dance has any limitations, it does not take long before everyone, both pupils and educators responds spontaneously; "Dance has no limitations! Dance can be done anywhere, with or without music! “And the students emphasize that” Dance can bring joy to everyone, wherever, whatsoever, anytime "

Finally, we can’t help but ask if they want more dance to Molde. In unison, everyone responds; “Obviously we want more dance in Molde!” Mai Cecilie says “And then I want even more people to experience these wonderful performances that will come here!” The students also want more dance in all genres; “We want more, more, more!”
